In September I entered my car into Japfest,a Japanese car enthusiasts dream car show. I knew it could get loud there so as usual I kept my earplugs in my pocket and a pair of earmuffs in the boot of my car. When we arrived I put my earplugs in but quickly realised three things, 1: Where we were wasn’t loud, the track was loud but I knew to stay away from there.

Here are 3 tips to consider when planning your next date. Even with hearing aids, the whirr of the air conditioning, the blare of background music, noise from the bar or kitchen, and conversations of others can overpower your own conversation and ruin your date. Try to avoid a popular restaurant on a Friday night or a sports bar at Happy Hour — places where it can be hard to hear even for people with normal hearing. When dining out, reserve a table away from the kitchen, bar, wait service stations, and loudspeakers so you can concentrate on what your date is saying.
And if possible, try to find a place with carpeting which can help absorb sound and minimize background noise. Movies are often best seen on the big screen, but for people with hearing loss the sounds of the movie theater can be difficult to handle. One thing you can do is get to the theater early to find the best seat for your hearing.
Movie theaters are usually designed with the best sound at the center of the theater so look for seats in the middle row. Modern technology is also making it easier for people with hearing loss to enjoy the cinema. Movie theaters are increasingly holding special captioned viewings for people with hearing loss.

Device to end misery of tinnitus by ROGER DOBSON, Daily Mail Scientists have discovered that white noise may help to get rid of the debilitating ringing sound of tinnitus, a distressing condition which affects one in ten people in Britain at some point in their lives. A new device called a white noise generator has been found to reduce the unwanted sound significantly, and in some cases get rid of it altogether.
White noise is made up of all the different frequencies of sound in the audio spectrum. This makes a roaring, hissing sound that is produced when a medium wave radio is tuned to a gap between stations. It has also been used as a soothing sound when played to dental patients through headphones.

Share Your Story Misophonia, which literally means “hatred of sounds,” while not yet officially recognized as a distinct psychiatric disorder in medical literature, is a source of great distress and sometimes debilitation in its sufferers. The definition of misophonia, which is often classified as a form of decreased sound tolerance, is severely negative reactions to sounds that have a specific pattern, meaning, and context to the sufferer based on previous experiences.
This condition usually entails a number of negative reactions, like anger, agitation, and hatred of particular sounds and is different from hyperacusis, another form of decreased sound tolerance, which is defined as a negative reaction to sound due to particular physical characteristics, like volume, type, and intensity. Misophonia should also be distinguished from phonophobia, which refers to a fear of specific sounds.

Please read the post below. Also, click on the links at the bottom of the page and read the articles on tinnitus. Tinnitus, earplugs and nightclubs. Someone that has tinnitus I believe they should try and live a normal life as they possibly can. This includes going out to clubs, concerts and other venues of entertainment where music is played if they wish to. For some, tinnitus can be difficult to live with without putting further restrictions on their life.
However, I also believe taking the necessary precautions is absolutely vital, in preventing noise trauma to the inner ear, which could make the tinnitus louder and more intrusive. Unfortunately, in some instances a person can be left in a hit or a miss situation, as there is no way of knowing if they have put themselves in harms way until after enjoying a night out, find their tinnitus has become louder and more intrusive over the coming days.
Sorry to sound so sobering but these are the facts as I see it. One way of protecting yourself from inner ear damage is to wear noise-reducing earplugs when going to nightclubs or concerts. The earplugs are available in various degrees of attenuation from as little as 9 decibels right up to 25 and even higher. If money is no object, one can buy custom moulded earplugs with the full knowledge they are getting the best ear protection that they can afford.
A word of caution to anyone that might not be in the know. I believe no level of ear protection is one hundred percent safe; so one still needs to be careful when attending nightclubs and concerts and not get carried away in thinking, wearing earplugs is completely safe so anything goes and you can stand next to the speakers all night or right up near to the stage where the music is booming out.

Since the Craiglist murder first entered headlines a few years back, singles looking for love online have been asking me how the internet dating murder case from Craigslist impacts online dating. I get this type of question both with my one-on-one dating coaching as well as in online dating workshops. The thing to note is that while the media has sensationalized the Craigslist murder as an online dating site related death that is not actually an accurate portrayal of the case.
I am not blaming the victim. However, what you need to know is that this was not a Craigslist Personals date. She was involved in what is already known as an incredibly high risk behavior as well as profession. Their first meeting was directly in a hotel bedroom. They did not follow any of the safety and security behaviors and habits which I advise to singles as their normal and regular habits.
Do practice safety and security behaviors on a regular basis.
